INCI name: Tallow
We love tallow for so many reasons. It is rich in fatty acids as well as Vitamins A, D, K, and E. The deep moisture helps to protect the skin barrier against environmental damage, making it a great layer for every day use. Tallow is also a highly stable fat, meaning that it is less likely to break down and oxidize under heat and UV stress. That’s why we love to use tallow in our every day Hera Face Balm for that all day dewy look!
INCI name: Simmondsia Chinensis Seed Oil
Jojoba oil closely resembles human skin sebum, so it blends in seamlessly without feeling heavy or greasy. It provides an antibacterial and anti-inflammatory layer which can actually help to unclog pores. This oil is neutral in scent making it perfect for our slow & cold infusions, providing deep moisture while we let the other, more fragrant ingredients shine.
INCI name: Ricinus Communis Seed Oil
We absolutely love castor oil for the scalp. With its thick and sticky nature, a little goes a long way with this beloved oil. It’s anti-fungal properties are prefect for combating dandruff, itchiness, and flakiness. Not many oils can provide the deep moisture that castor oil does, as it nourishes follicles with fatty acids. Castor oil can boost blood flow to the scalp, possibly even helping to thicken your hair. Due to it’s greasy and viscous texture, we recommend using castor oil more as a mask rather than a leave-in oil.
INCI name: Olea Europaea Fruit Oil
Olive Oil is a perfect carrier oil for our Nyx Body Oil. We love the antioxidant and vitamin-rich nature of this oil. With Vitamin E & K and the high level of polyphenols, olive oil can help to promote skin elasticity and soothe inflammation. Olive oil can be a bit greasy for the face, so we like to keep it to the body so as not to clog any pores. As an emollient, olive oil helps to lock in moisture and reduce water loss, making it perfect for the cold & dry winters.
INCI name: Punica Granatum Seed Oil
Encourages new cell growth, leading to fresher, brighter skin. lightweight, and easily absorbed into skin. Brightens skin tone and reduces redness.
INCI name: Punica Granatum Seed Oil
The high levels of punicic acid in Pomegrante oil helps to fight free radicals and oxidative stress. This oil can help to reduce inflammation and stimulate collagen growth. We love Pomegrante oil in our Artemis Antioxidant Serum because of its ability to help repair sun damage.
INCI name: Hippophae Rhamnoides Oil
Seabuckthorn oil is a powerhouse rich in Vitamins A, C, and E, and cartenoids—all of which work synergistically to protect and enhance the skin barrier, protect against UV damage, boost collagen production, and create a brightening affect. Seabuckthorn also helps to promote oil balance in the skin, making it a great oil for all skin types. Oh, and we almost forgot to mention its rich, luxurious color that makes our serum feel like liquid gold.
INCI name: Haematococcus Pluvialis Extract
Astaxanthin is a perfect addition to our Night Serum. This is one of the strongest antioxidants from in the natural world. With antioxidant properties 65x stronger than Vitamin C, even just a couple drops of Astaxanthin can have incredible benefits for repairing sun damage. We love using Astaxnathin in our Night Serum to help rejuvenate the skin overnight after a long day in the sun!
INCI name: Haematococcus Pluvialis Extract
Rosemary antioxidant is used in many of our ingredients. It has incredible antioxidant properties that helps stabilize those less stable oils from oxidize or going rancid. It is a wonderful, natural stabilizer.
INCI name: Limnanthes Alba Seed
Meadowfoam seeds provide a very stable oil that is similar to natural human skin sebum. It is generally accepted for being safe for all skin types. As an emollient, it provides deep moisture without feel greasy. This plant is native to Oregon, the birthplace of Rhea!
INCI name: Picea Sitchensis Leaf Extract
Spruce needles have incredible anti-inflammatory benefits. When infused into our hair oil, the natural oils can help with flakiness, bringing an invigorating effect to the scalp for a fresh feel. We infuse Spruce needles into Jojoba oil using a long, cold infusion process to protect the integrity of the plant
INCI name: Abies Sibirica Needle Oil
We love fir tips for their gentleness, high vitamin C concentrations, and antioxidant properties. Fir tips are a perfect addition to both skin and scalp products as they provide a clarifying effect, boosting circulation to the skin and scalp. Not to mention the natural fragrance that makes us melt. We infuse Fir needles into Jojoba oil using a long, cold infusion process to protect the integrity of the plant
INCI name: Juniperus Scopulorum Fruit Oil
Juniper (when used sparingly) can be a powerful clarifier and balancer to the skin tone. We love the natural scent that Juniper provides as well, leaving us feeling fresh and clean all day. We infuse Juniper into Jojoba oil using a long, cold infusion process to protect the integrity of the plant. We use the Rocky Mountain Juniper variety.
INCI name: Pinus Monticola Leaf Oil
Pine needles have strong antioxidant properties, helping to protect our skin. It’s high levels of polyphenols are even known to match those in Green Tea. It’s strong lineup of Catechins, Quercetin, Kaempferol, and Isorhamnetin antioxidants help to improve circulation, preserve collagen, and fight oxidative stress. INCI name: Bixa Orellana Seed
Annatto seeds are the secret ingredient that gives our Hera Face Balm is deep golden hue. The seeds themselves are a deep burnt orange-red color. That deep, rich colors can only mean one thing: it is packed with powerful antioxidants. The carotenoid that gives it that color is called Bixin. Carotenoids generally offering a skin-brightening effect, leaving you feeling radiant all day. That doesn’t even begin to touch the protective and preservative nature of this antioxidant-packed ingredient.
INCI name: Cera Alba
Beeswax is used mainly for the consistency and texture. It gives our Hera Face Balm a perfectly creamy feel. As a natural humectant, beeswax also helps the skin retain moisture, providing that all-day dewy look.
INCI name: Boswellia Carterii Resin
Frankincense has been used on the skin for thousands of years. It is famously known as “nature’s botox” for it’s abilities to firm the skin, reduce the appearance of wrinkles, and tighten pores, all while soothing the complexion. We love frankincense for its ritualistic nature and of course the scent it leaves behind.
